Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cool story, bro! Sorry about your feelings of inadequacy that you felt the need to tattle about some random cyclist you know nothing about on the interdweeb. You should see a professional about that.

I think you need therapy...it must have been traumatic!

I've been riding my commuter hybrid all week and was longing for my road bike so I took it down to the fireworks last night, wearing cargo bike shorts and a baggy "don't flatten me yellow" jacket. On the way home, I was going at a moderately fast pace to stay ahead of the cars leaving the show and this college kid on a noisy steel bike was riding my draft for a good couple miles until I sat up to wait for a light I knew would be changing. He first almost hit me then swooped past and sprinted across the red light before disappearing on a side road.

Some people get so caught up in the unspoken competition of riding that they do stupid things. Your stupid thing was judging another rider because of how he looked.

Proper BF etiquette requires dog-piling on OP by making ignorant comments about how contempt implies jealousy due to assumed financial circumstances or level of fitness.

What's wrong with wearing team gear? Maybe the guy is a fan of team garmin-cervelo. It's like basketball fans wearing lakers jersey when they play ball in the park. That doesn't mean they are poseurs.

I'd only assume he was a poseur if he had a TdF number pinned to his jersey. Or REALLY lost.

I've seen both, here in Boulder - actual G-C team members and regular folks wearing G-C kit and riding an R5. But, you know, the team is headquartered here...
Last year at this time there were two Garmin riders doing the local races, Tour de Delta and Tour de White Rock.

Either that, or he was just another Poseur, like the 100,000+ fans wearing Canucks jerseys in downtown Vancouver last month.

Yes you should make that assumption. You should also be outraged by his behavior. And as a good citizen of your city you should take it upon yourself to correct his obviously flawed and undeserved sence of fashion.

Im really confused. I like th leopard trek team and the htc highroad teams. Is it not alright to buy the bib and jersey to wear to support these teams I like? If it is why do they even sell the jersey and bib? It doesn't seem like its bad to sport one in your local ride on saturday. Its insupport of your favorite teams. This is what's been holding me back from purchasing one. Th critisizm you take for supporting a team or rider u like. Id really like a trek leopard kit.

I wouldn't make that assumption. I came across a guy dressed the same with his "R-series" on the side of the road not long ago. I stopped to ask if everything was alright and he said "no, the shifter thingy on the back isn't working". Obviously, he was a pro... The team sweep will get him.
