New Neuvation wheels with their QR skewers also new. After first stop light 1/2 mile into the ride the rear comes loose. Moves to left and rubs left chainstay non-drive side. I stop and tighten and ride on. One half mile later at next stop light after I start it happens again. Same thing. I Stop and really tighten it down this time. No problems for rest of short 10mile ride.

So what the heck could be wrong? Why would they slip and loosen? Do you have to tighten Neuvation QR skewers down really really tight? I was using an old pair of Campy QR with Aerohead Velocity wheels and no problem ever.

The drop out adjust screws seem to be fine. I have not changed them and there was not a problem on old wheels.

Help !!! I don't wanna wear the paint through on inside of stays and also ruin my new wheels. What could be wrong?

Some skewers just suck. Use the Campy skewers.

You're not tightening them correctly. When fully tightened, Neuvation skewer handles go all the way down between the stays.

No issues with Neuvation skewers here. Are they lubed, are they tight enough, are you closing them all the way?

It's no wonder the guy was a legend. I learn something new every time I read one of his articles. I've owned many different wheels in my 20+ years of cycling and never knew any of that about QR, just tightened them up without thinking about it. But the best QRs I have are Dura Ace, easy to tighten, always secure. The ones that came with two sets of Ksyriums however were POS and replaced very soon with D-A.

No they were tight. Just not as tight as what I'm used to with Campy or Shimano. On those I never thought about them. I think newer cam style skewers need to be a LOT tighter. Check out this link:

Dropouts are horizontal, which compounds any issues.

I did find drop out adjust screws were not even and non drive was too short. That could cause tourquing that way plus create non parallel grip surface. I adjusted.

Seems like a lot of thinking that I never did with Campy and Shimano.

+ 1 on Campy Skewers - Rock Solid.. The Fulcrum skewers are the same as campy and sometimes can be found a little cheaper.

I bought a pair of KCNC Ti skewers to drop weight on my bike
(damn near 1/4lb over the stock Mavic Ksyrium Elite skewers).

On my first ride with them, I took out my bike and did everything short of bunny hopping it to see how well they held. I managed to secure them, but had to play a lot with how I tightened them. I had the same problem with my set coming loose and almost identical issues as you. My mistake was that I tightened them and adjusted them while my bike was on a stand.

Haven't had any problems with them since, but there's still that creeping suspicion that they'll come out when I'm hauling arse down the road. I will have no problem with going back to the original skewers if I have a problem with these again. Ain't no grams worth my safety.

FAIL. After all my additional effort, I went out on a 35 mile ride. The rear came loose after 1 mile. But I was ready - I brought the Campy skewer with me just in case. I replaced Neuvation with Campy and had no problems for the remaining 34 miles. That included several rough road sections and even some paver bricks that shook everything. No problem.

I just don't think all skewers work for all dropouts. On my older Italian frame with Columbus chromed dropouts the Neuvations just don't bite enough. But I used Neuvations on a newer Seven Ti I had a few years ago and never had an issue. I'll just use Campy with my new Neuvation wheels (and I love the new wheels).
