Why are cyclists so concerned with triathletes & runners?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Why are cyclists so concerned with triathletes & runners?

Are running and tri forums chock full of posts about the evils of straight road biking? Or is this a one way infatuation?

Ok, I didn't search. But seriously,if it has been done what was consensus?

If it's justs BFs version of telling polish jokes well then ok, it's about as funny as most polish jokes and I wouldn't think people would want to waste time with it.

It is kind of strange. You hardly see any cycling-related comments in running forums (except about Lance or doping).

Then again, runners are about some of the weirdest people that exist, and the myriad of topics brought up on those sites is enough to confuse and upset most people.

It's obviously because the running community has unanimously accepted how much more bad ass cycling is.

our local running company, whom I love because they have a cool thing going has opted to have a group run on the same day/time as our local group ride...it was a mess at the end of our ride and they were rude to cyclist slowing (near stopping) that didnt ""on your left them"...seriously...our group ride has been going longer than this particular business has been around...plus there is another direction they could have chosen to run....bad move...I don't mind tri guys...I'm starting to warm up to quite a few of them out on the road

Elitist attitudes from people who were probably jerks long before they ever got on a road bike, massive amounts of testosterone produced by copious amounts of cardiovascular exercise, and incessant threads like this that seem bent on propagating the problem they're illustrating. ;-)

I don't get why running has a culture, you buy a pair of shoes and then you put a 26.2 sticker on your car. doesn't seem that complicated to me.

Lol. Cycling is bad ass? A bunch of lightweight guys in tight spandex and cleats that sound like high heels?

Lol. You don't have to "get it" for something to exist. It just does.

Learn to simply accept that runners can be as anal and pedantic about their gear as cyclists.

And just like cycling, the elites don't usually care what they're sporting as long as it performs (well.. except Lance).
