Nuun electrolyte tabs?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nuun electrolyte tabs?

Anyone else try these?

I did for the first time today, and I have to say that I had an awesome 50 mile ride today after work. I felt like I could have kept going for another 50. The weird thing is I didn't even eat that well. I didn't have breakfast because I had to study for this work-related certification exam that I took at 1pm. I was so nervous over the exam that I couldn't eat, so I forced down 1 sloppy joe around noon. Then I ate a smoothie and half of a chicken flatbread sandwich at around 4pm. Definitely not enough food for a fast paced 50 mile ride.

I've done rides like that before without eating enough, and I always start to cramp horribly at around 40 miles or so. This wasn't the case today. One water bottle had a dissolved Nuun tab, and the other had a Vitamin water (the yellow "energy" flavor). My legs felt fresh even after 50 miles. No cramping at all. I just felt like a beast out there today.

The taste was good too. Sort of light and salty tasting, but it was very thirst quenching. Didn't leave my mouth dry and sticky like Gatorade. I didn't feel thirsty for plain water afterwards like I do when I drink sugary sports drinks.

Anyways, to make an already long story short, I think it's a good product. I only decided to try them because I got a 4-tube sample pack and a nice Specialized Purist water bottle for $18 during a promotion sale Competitive Cyclist was running about a week ago. Not too bad considering a good water bottle goes for at least $10 by itself.

One of my rando friends says he puts one in each camelbak full of water, and that actually keeps it cleaner than just running pure water.

I've tried them a few times, and didn't like the flavor, so I carry a roll around for emergencies but don't normally use them.

Be careful assuming what prevents cramps- I've done exactly the same thing and had different results, which makes it hard to know what really works and what doesn't.

I use them. You can buy them in bulk in some places. Root Beer flavor is to be avoided.

I used to have cramping problems on long races until i switched to 1 Nuun + double cytomax in each bottle. its really concentrated, but i haven't cramped since i started go this route.

I use Camelbak Elixir. For me, the best parts are no suger (enough in gels) and the tab tube is easy to put in your pocket to use to refill your water bottles on a longer ride.

Love them. Every ride that will be longer than 2 hours, second bottle and on is NUUN, and carry a tube in jersey pocket.

I used NUUN and liked it, but it's pricey. Sometimes I use 'Airborne' (that "cold remedy" that comes in tablets that you dissolve just like NUUN). Actually, I used the generic Rite Aid version. Very similar ingredients and is easier to find than NUUN.

I use the Elixir too. I use the Orange flavor with the caffine for the morning rides. I tried the GU tabs but didn't like them as much. I've been meaing to try the Nuun, now I might have to move it up the list.

Have been using them for a few weeks now. I usually do one bottle of gatorade and one Nuun. or for longer rides ill bring extra for adding to plain water when i need to refill. used Citrus and Lemon/lime so far.

TIP: leave them in the tube.. i made the mistake of taking a bunch out of the tube to just bring a few on my ride and the ones out of the tube absorb humidity like crazy and dissolve much slower.

anotherr happy Nuun user here. Quite light and not too sweet, I can even tolerate it when warm which is inevitable in our seering summer temps.

I use them quite regularly. The tri-berry flavor is my favorite so far with the strawberry-lemonade being absolutely disgusting. I even thru out what I had left of that. Horrid. The mango is decent too.

With the Florida heat and humidity, I sweat - a lot - so I rely on these to replenish the electrolytes.

I've been using them for a few months now. I like the light taste and not syrupy at all. And not too bad to drink when warm either.

I like them. The lemon/lime, tea and fruit punch flavors are pretty good.

+1 here. Used to use and like the Nuun tabs but the Elixir is now first choice.

Nuun is great. I used to be OK with just adding a little salt in my bottles but since the heat really started up I've started using nuun when I know I'm going to be super sweaty. If it's going to be ridiculously hot and I'm racing, I actually dont use nuun because I know I'll be dumping water on my head.

I started using Gu Electrolyte tabs in Lemon/Lime before I knew of other products. I am anxious to try the Hammer Grapefruit flavor of electrolyte tabs. For me these tabs are a must have. Great stuff!

I'm with roadwarrior & NRZ on the Camelback elixir. I used to use 2 NUNN tabs per bottle on hot rides, I find I can get by with 1 tab per bottle using the Elixir(Lemon/Lime).

I tried the grape kind toward the end of Ragbrai and it was pretty awful. Dumped it out and replaced with some Powerade.

The wife and I both like NUUN tabs for all the reasons as previous posters who like them: light flavor, helps the water go down easier, electrolytes. We use the suggested amount, which is 1.5 tabs for our large water bottles. The hotter it is and the longer the ride the more I like it. I don't always use it and sometimes just take plain water or put NUUN in only one bottle.

Probikekit sent me some free samples of High5 Zero which I tried and liked very much. The berry and the sport/caffeine have nice flavors.

Performance currently has them on sale so I picked up a case to try. I like the taste. I haven't used it while riding tho (only when doing yard work mid-day).
