You Shall All Covet The New Addiction

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

From my experience, cross consists of highly concentrated levels of stupidity I've not ever experienced by the likes of cyclists. It was absurd. I remember post race talking to an older gentlemen on a carbon Crackandfail, with 303s, with full Red, probably a $8K retail bike. I mean seriously, he subjected that bike to the very same punishment I ran my $500 budget bike through? What the hell is wrong with people? To make things worse he finished well behind me. I lost all shifting 1 lap into the race, and now I've managed to get about 7 speeds out of 10 to work poorly. I either have a shifter problem, a bad derailleur spring, or a bad cable. Not sure. I've never had any problems with Sram stuff until I subjected it to these adverse horrible conditions. I don't know if I ever want to do it again. I think cross may be too stupid even for me. I do like to work on bikes, but I would rather not have to do a complete tear down after every weekend,

I spent another two hours on the phone with Verizon yesterday. My wife's phone will dial out, it will send and receive text messages, however it will not receive calls. At first it would receive calls when the screen was on but not when the phone was in "sleep" mode. After they worked on it the phone will not receive calls at all.

Two hours later and the phone will still not "activate". This is getting pretty damn old.

So total time with Verizon so far.

40 minutes being ignored in Company store.
5 1/2 hours in Best Buy trying to get phones activated.
1 1/2 hours on phone with Verizon getting my phone activated.
1 1/2 hours in Best Buy getting data transfered to my new phone.
2 hours on phone with Verizon attempting to get my wife's phone "activated".

I have found that VZ support is very good, just be sure to call during normal business hours otherwise you will get someone in a faraway place.

The people I have talked to have all been very nice. Now if they could just get my phones working I could put this all behind me. At this point, I am not thrilled about my decision to switch companies.

I do have to say though, I am absolutely amazed at my internet speed on 4g. This morning I did a speed test and I downloaded at 14,490 kbps and uploaded at 6,495 kbps. My home internet (Suddenlink cable) only downloads at 4,000 kbps.

Am I the only one who thinks this would make a decent road bike? switch the ugly tribars for drop bars and you're ready go.

Also, the new SHIVs look fat and ugly.

From their website:
FUELSELAGE™ INTEGRATED HYDRATION SYSTEM: TRADITIONAL TUBE-MOUNTED WATER BOTTLE SETUPS ARE A MAJOR DRAG ON AERODYNAMICS. TO AVOID THIS, AND TO PROVIDE THE SAFEST, MOST ERGONOMIC HYDRATION SYSTEM POSSIBLE, WE DESIGNED THE FUELSELAGE™ INTEGRATED HYDRATION SYSTEM TO FIT NEATLY INSIDE SHIV’S MASSIVE DOWN TUBE. TESTING PROVES THE SYSTEM HAS ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT ON THE FRAME’S OUTSTANDING AERODYNAMICS.
A REMOVABLE HYDRATION RESERVOIR (APPROXIMATE CAPACITY OF ONE WATER BOTTLE—EXACT SIZE IS FRAME-SPECIFIC) FITS EASILY THROUGH A PORT ON THE TOP TUBE, AND STOWS INSIDE THE DOWN TUBE. RIDERS CAN REFILL THE RESERVOIR DIRECTLY THROUGH THE PORT WITHOUT NEED FOR REMOVAL, EVEN ON THE FLY; AND THE BITE VALVE CAN BE MOUNTED ANYWHERE ON THE BARS, WITH A MOVABLE MAGNETIC MOUNT. PLUS, THE WHOLE SYSTEM CAN BE REMOVED FOR EASY CLEANING.
