Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Road tires suggestion please!!

My Michelin pro race 3 are beginning to wear out and I'm starting to get flats from punctures. I'm looking for a good tires to train on, I'm not a weight weenie since I'm not going to race anytime soon, just doing group rides and solo rides.

So I'm pretty much looking for durability, tough, reliable and I guess affordability but I'm willing to dish out a couple extra just to have good tires. Any suggestions?!?

I have some conti GP4000s. Rolls well and seems pretty durable to me... Great grip too.

For training tires the Continental Ultra Race is decent.

These are feeling pretty good now that the little center molding ridge is wearing off. If you don't like them return them. They were 21.99 last week.

I have Conti Ultra Sport and a Conti Gatorskin. No flats on either from punctures. I also have a gp4000s, but have yet to use it yet.

I don't have much of a point of comparison, but I've been using these tires, Hypersonic by Duro, which came with my bike when I purchased it new. They weigh 205g and seem to roll nicely - are rated at 120psi. I'm coming up on 2K miles on them and it looks like they could keep going for a while. You can find them for well under $30, delivered, on ebay.
