Fantastic shoes for "off bike" hours?
In winter, the weather is so cold. What shoes do you guys take for "off bike" hours in winter(though it's early I wanna prepare some shoes for my winter touring)? Boots, leather shoes or others? I am thinking about a small two day trip with my girlfriend later this year (maybe Vancouver Island, San Juan Islands or something like that). So i need one pair of walking shoes. What is your opinion? Has anyone of u have experience with this Clarks Desert Boot?I feel its style is so cool, but i am not sure for its quailty and performance. Is it good for "off bike"hours? Thanks for any suggestions

I wear Asics trail running shoes off the bike mostly. Doesn't get much better than quality running shoes for comfort.

I actually bought that exact boot sometime last winter. It was horrible. The top edge cut in awfully to my upper ankles, it was unbearable even over a day.
Ended up with a different pair that were infinitely better, but the style wasn't exactly the same. I'll post sometime tomorrow what they were.

Walking shoes are no different than cycling shoes in that you need to try them on and figure out for yourself what fits and is comfortable.

Yeah I can tell just by looking that you shouldn't buy those boots. If you want something comfortable and dry get a trail running shoe with Gore Tex or whatever. If you want something that you can beat buy a real boot.
