What if any research has been focused on the inverse relationship between power out put, waist girth and ones climbing ability.

If there's a study that involves bicycling and drinking beer, I'd probably be down for that.

I've heard each pound of weight on the rider slows you by 0.1 MPH on the average. 10 lbs = 1 mph. I've found this to be true, but it doesn't alter my behavior.

Your beer belly makes me climb faster.
Nothing tastes as good as fast.

On the other hand, it make you faster going downhill. An even wash and no need for change.
In fact, you are faster on sprints when your knees hit your stomach - helps makes your lungs more efficient breathing

Not only does it make your lungs more efficient there's the "spring-loaded" effect as your knees bounce off. Plus beer bellies look so sexy in spandex. Fat girls dig a guy with a well developed grain storage area...

Ah hell, if that was true I'd be losing 24.9 mph! Given that my current cruising speed is around 14-16 .... yeah, I'd love to be able to cruise along at 40mph. Not gonna happen, even if I weighed 0!
