Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tacx - Indoor trainer and "interactive" videos

Hello all,

it is bloody cold and sucky outside where I live and I'm huddling back indoor. I have downloaded their videoplayer and I'm wondering if someone has used the videoplayer with one of their non-VR trainers. In particular I'm wondering how this videoplayer makes the videos "compatible" with a non-vr trainer.

I suspect you would select the trainer you are using (let's say a cheaper 5-speed one) and the video player would have a profile for that specific trainer...then the player would tell you to shift to either one of the five resistance levels and thus "interactive".

I have the Tacx bushido and TTS and do the interactive videos (RLV). When riding a video and you come to a hill the resistance of the trainer increases and you have to shift gears just like you would on the road. Very enjoyable way to train indoors. My climbing has improved. Where I live we do not have 3-4 mile climbs. You can ride some of the TDF stages if you like.

I live in Ontario, Canada.

It gets cold and crappy and I don't feel like driving in the city with crappy weather and low light (shorter days). CTS videos and the TSF don't have any interactivity that I know of.

I might be able to get a VR for a decent price but if I can get partial interactivity with a video that says: Shift to resistance three based on my trainer then that will work as well.
