Crashed on an oil spill

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Crashed on an oil spill

I just crahed my bike doing just over 20mph on a large oil spill on a roundabout. It looked like water. I landed on the pavement and got away with just a few cuts + scratched up handlebars + shifters . A car nearly lost control going round. I don't know who I can report it to.

Yeah, I knew a guy that wiped out on a scooter on a road behind a restaurant where they had leaked grease onto the road. He said it was worse than ice.

Did you hear any Mario sounds when you hit the oil slick?

if you report it and file and actual police report you might be able to get the city to pay for any damages. I hit a pothole once and it busted my front strut through the strut tower and my hood which all obviously had to be replaced I filed a report and the city paid for everything including my rental car.

I crashed my motorbike on a slick of antifreeze one time, similar situation. I called the city and they took care of it.

glad to hear you're okay man, along with others who shared their crash experiences.
I'm getting to start doing group rides soon and that's one thing I'm paranoid about...

Call the police on the regular line (not 911).

Diesel is the worst, it's bad enough that it's used in those armoured limo cars for spraying off the rear bumper.

Glad you're not hurt.
