Douglas TI "Franken-bike"
Picked up a douglas frame for $150 with some stay issues (Strees crack??). I reworked the carbon with new epoxy I had from boat building projects.. good as gold. Added a Carbon fork from a rear-end crashed Lemond Ti. (Bought at LBS for $25 with Cane Creek Headset!) Put Ultegra crank & Octalink BB. New Brifters (105? I think) Cannondale bargain brakes, 105 Deraileurs and new Jegwire cable set. Cheap set of Aero Wheels (used off ebay) Cinelli Bars. Probly less than $350 for components. All I can say is, "for a pile of parts" it sure is a sweet machine. Probly a pound or two lighter than my Jamis 831 steel and a little stiffer. Finally got it out on the road on a charity ride today after a year of "dinking". SCHWEEEEEETTTTT!
I'm planning on putting All Ultegra Derails on it.
Seen a lot of old posts on Douglas but can't find any frames on ebay etc to compare. Are these worth anything? I figured ANY Ti frame has to be worth at least $500, so I think I got a deal. True??
