I have mine and have had it since 2005. Merlin Lunaris- A carbon fiber/ Ti bike, outfitted with Campy Record. Do not think I will ever need another.

Got mine in 1973 at age 17, an Xmas present from mom and dad. Custom Super Mistral Fastback with the very best of everything at the time.

so not to get back into a flaming argument about what bikes should have what wheels, because I myself am trying to do a cheap build. But it seems that if you have venge money you would have something nicer than boyds on your DREAM bike...like some firecrest zipps.
p.s. i like the other boyd logo better.
still a sexy ass bike

Unique Vintage Steel
Kirk Frameworks JKS Classic (Reynolds 953 stainless / TrueTemper S3), Terraplane stays.
Campagnolo Record (I see no need for S.Record personally)
Hand-built wheelsets for differing occasions, a set of medium profile every-day wheels, low profile climbers, and some carbon deep rims for long days on open roads.
- not mine, obviously, but a nice example of a Kirk JKS (non-classic, sloped top tube on this example)
The first part is about 6mo out, doubt I'll be able to hang Record on it, at least initially. I have an Athena group waiting for it now, but may try to spring an upgrade to Chorus depending on how much of my budget I blow on wheels and paint upgrades.

I'm kinda partial to this bike, though probably would opt for something other than Campy for the gruppo...perhaps the new 11 speed DA Di2?

That Venge is way more desirable than the extremely dull Cannondale and Colnago put together.

we be rollin'
Uh, dream bike? Maybe my post doesn't belong in this thread but in my opinion, I think there's a happy medium between good or very good then almost perfect. If I wanted to be reasonable and sane, I would pick either a Shimano M590 or Deore LX trekking groupset at bike24.com and get an inexpensive Nashbar frame. If I chose something more expensive, the aim would still be to be somewhat reasonable. Even the wheels I'd choose something like Shimano Deore or Tiagra hubs or higher. Tires, reasonable-cost Continental TourRide or Michelin Tracker. At the same time, almost any custom build with things you actually want on the bike are way better than pre-built bicycles with a bunch of parts you don't want.

for me, I like to start with the little things. I am looking to build up an old cannondale frame I have. I know it doesn't sound like a dream bike, but it was the first road bike I ever had, and handles better than anything I've had since. I was doing a little looking around, and I saw this new type of bicycle quick release - I thought I might try it out - anyone using it already or have any thoughts?

Probably a Firefly Ti or Stainless frame
Enve Fork
3T Cockpit
Dura Ace Di2 shifters, derailleurs, cassette
Lightest (and durable) crank I can find
Enve Seatpost
No idea what saddle, I'm fine with the Ritchey I have, but there's probably a few that are better.
I'm pretty happy with my November wheels but if money were no factor, I'd look at the new 3T, Enve, or Lightweight wheels.

'84 Masi Gran Criterium. I could never afford it when I was a USCF Junior bagging groceries for $4.35/hr, but when I came home on Xmas leave in '88 from the Army 4 years later, IT WAS STILL HANGING UP IN THE BIKE SHOP. Turns out it was made just a few miles from where I live now in Carlsbad. It was my racer and primary transportation during my 3 years in Holland, near Maastricht & Liege.
'86 Schwinn Peloton, my first real racebike when I was 16. Shopped for 4 years on Ebay & Craigslist before a 24-inch version of this came up. Of course then this 25-inch popped up immediately too, so now I have both. Built the bike up myself, including my first wheelbuild.
