Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sidi Ergo 3 Vent Carbon

Has anybody gotten their hands on a pair of Sidi Ergo 3 Vent Carbon shoes yet?
If you have, how are they especially compared to Sidi Ergo 2's?

(Damnit! It looks like they're going to release a Vernice Black pair!)

The 3 looks to have a slightly more appealing design on the side than the 2 Carbon Lite. Other than that, I think the only difference between the 3 and the 2CL is that it is 30g lighter and that there is some sort of mechanism that allows one to manipulate airflow; perhaps insertion or removal of footbed like element?

I know that they are fresh on the market, but thanks.
Real world experience.
That's what I'm looking for.
The sole is supposed to be .1mm stiffer?
I doubt they'd feel much different there.

I was wondering how much of a difference the vented soles would make.

I think it's pretty amusing/ridiculous that they chose to employ three types of closure systems on one shoe; velcro, cable (BOA), and buckle. I wonder why they left out laces. Too low tech?

I don't mind it. I could see having a boa in place rather than the velcro close nearest the toe.

Do you also think it is silly to have a deadbolt lock on a door in addition to one that works with the door handle?

I bought the speedplay versions ans their great. They are lighter, the sole is stiffer (but still comfortable), and the direct speedplay mount rocks.

I have Ergo2's and 6.6's. I had a customer in who was espousing the greatness of the Ergo over the 6.6 and on and on. The Ergo and the 6.6 share the same sole...I grabbed a copy of the Cannondale catalog for 2012 and there's this nice photo of Basso in his 6.6's. All I said to the guy was, there's so little difference in these shoes that a world class pro like Basso prefers the cheaper shoe. I also told him I had both shoes and other than (in my pair) the heel stabilizer is adjustable on the Ergo (which the 6.6 now employs) and the filiament on the foot, there's little difference.

My point is that people get way to hung up on the tecchy stuff...at the prices these shoes command, they are all pretty good.
