Giant TCR or Pinarello Dogma
I can't find a comparison on these, and would like to hear some opinions. I'm about to buy a new bike and these are the contenders I've narrowed it down to.
If I go for Giant it will be the TCR Advanced SL 0 - but not with Dura Ace DI2 as that makes it too expensive. Instead it will be full dura ace 7900.
If I go for Pinarello it will be the Dogma 60.1 with full dura ace 7900.
I prefer the looks of the pinarello (like a lot), but I don't know if the Giant might be better to ride (and that's the most important thing - I won't be admiring the bike when I'm riding it).
So.............. all opinions welcome

Surely you've ridden both? I don't think I'd buy a bike this expensive without test rides.
Interesting comment about Di2, btw. What made you choose mechanical DA 7900 over Ultegra Di2?

One thing that was a deal breaker for Pinarello with me was that they didn't have replaceable derailer hangers. You break the derailer hanger and the frame is done (well maybe someone like Parlee could fix it). I saw it happen to a friend of mine's bike. Maybe they changed it since though - I haven't shopped for bikes in a while.

I fancy di2 ultegra as well, but there is just this gut feeling that if something goes wrong with the software / hardware in the di2 mechanism there is no way i can fix it at the side of the road.

That is a problem. I am short. Bike shops never have my size, so I can't get a meaningful test ride.

I just don't see that happening as Shimano has had Dura Ace Di2 on the market a long while now, and if anything Ultegra will be better since they had the opportunity to learn and further improve.
It has different servos but I think that's mainly going to be a weight issue, not reliability or functionality.

The close-up picture of the rear drop outs on the Dogma at CC sure looks to me like there's a removable hanger there.

yep it sure does. If it does then the Pinarello will be more 'exotic'/different. Although if you go with the Pinarello you HAVE to do Campy - anything else would be a sin. Especially if you put Shimano on it. I'm not sure but I think the Giant might be lighter. No idea how the Pinarello rides but the Giant rides amazing. Best riding bike I've been on. I want one but my wallet doesn't agree with that.

From a mechanical design perspective (rigidity, compliance, etc..) the squiggly Pin forks are just a gimmick and are a deal breaker, IMO. That leaves Giant.

CC has an unconditional 60 day return policy, though. That is actually far less risk than buying it from a LBS..
BTW when I bought my Litespeed M1 from them, of course I hadn't ridden it. But I knew about the NQA policy and intended to use it if I was displeased. I rode a CAAD10-5 before and after (other bikes as well, but these were my top 2) and I was happy with the Litespeed.

I'd drop for a Dogma any day of the week, and twice on Sunday's if I could. But I'm also biased. Someday I hope to throw my leg over one. And the hangers are in fact replaceable, so don't worry about that. If both frames fit then buy the one you like more.
