Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Castelli thermal jackets on Bonktown

These jackets keep coming upon Bonktown (Agnel and Duran being two lines I recall). If they're good, I'd consider getting one, but I couldn't find any reviews online about these particular jackets.

Anyone here know anything about them?

I have one that I got off Bonktown a couple years ago. It's super high quality and extremely warm. I typically don't wear it unless it's in the low 40s, but find it ideal for the 30s.

I can't find it now, but I could've sworn I read on the bonktown forum a while back that the new Agnel, Mortirolo, and Duran jackets are the same as the Bormio jacket, which has been around for a year or so. So if you find some reviews for the Bormio version, the same should apply to the newer ones as well.

I think.

I just ordered the Agnel version personally. Looks sweet.

I have the Bormio one and I wore it for the first time last week. It is quite warm and comfortable. The Bormio for $65 is a great deal.

Just a word of caution, these jerseys fit you when you are in riding position. When you first put it on, you will fell very constricted in the chest and shoulder areas and that's normal. Once you get on your bike, these jersey are pretty good, not great. The quality is low end castelli level, that's is to say it has the cheaper zippersand not a lot of details.

I got this Bormio from Bonktown for like $60 and it's been really good. Very very warm. I can get away with just a short sleeve shirt underneath it in the 40's. Only complaint is that the neck opening is a bit loose for my neck. My neck isn't even that skinny. Good deal overall though.

can't go wrong with them. it's warm (rode it in 20F last winter), and it doesn't flap around unnecessarily. it's got 3 large pockets in the back. basically, has everything you need in a winter jacket.

Good info I was going to order one, but didn't know about the warmth and fit factors. I'll pick one up next round.

Castelli jackets have been very good in general over the years. 2 years ago I picked up a radiation jacket from wiggle- I haven't used the radiation reflective thing once- the jacket does such a good job w/ the windproofing I find it better to use various layers depending on the temps, down to about 20 degrees. If it says it has windproof panels, you can expect it to do that job extremely well!
