That critter with the striped tail looks like a monitor, not an alligator. They are mean SOBs. Looks like a really nice place to ride.

Way more cool than the squirrels and occasional deer that I see.

I have to admit, as someone who has grown up in the northeast, I'd probably ruin my chamois if I suddenly discovered one of those alongside the road. Being chased by dogs is bad enough, and I've had deer dart across the road close enough that I could hear their hooves on the pavement, but I'd hate to be surprised by one of those!

DAMN NATURE, YOU SCARY!
I have seen a black bear while navigating a dirt/sand driveway, on a roadbike of course. He was in front of me 30 yards or so before he saw me and took off!

I might as well add mine to this thread since they are on the 50+ forum. These were taken at the Myakka State Park near Sarasota, FL.
This one is about 6 ft long from what I could gather.
This one was in the water under a bridge we crossed close to the parking lot. He was huge and looked to be around 12 foot long.
This one was also under the same bridge but wasn't quite as big. Maybe an 8 to 10 footer.
