Thinking about buying a used Felt AR5 2010 for $1400. Bike is in awesome condition - no pedals, everything stock.
Thanks for the feedback!
Oh...size is perfect for me

I would prob. offer about 1,000 and see what they say. I just looked up one really quick and it was 1650 new so 1400 used is not really much of a deal. It has a carbon frame which is good but the components are only entry race level shimano 105 parts so while not bad by any means its nothing to write home about. Hoever if you can get the bike for 1000 you could use the saved money to uprade to Ultegra which would make this bike even better. JMO Oh and just fyi while I have heard good things about Felt I have only had Orbea bikes so someone who has ridden one of these will prob be able to tell you much more.

That is in fact not a good deal. It would be an OK deal at $1,000.
If this is a friend, politely pass and move along. (I don't try to grind on my friends.) If it's a random person, grind away.

wait, what?? what the heck are you guys looking at?
from felt's website, MSRP for the 2010 AR5 was $3000. $1400 in good shape seems like a good deal to me...am i missing something?

I would not pay $1400 for a used bike at that level, however.

You are absolutely correct, I did not catch the "race" part. I still say that there is not much difference in 105 and Ultegra though, definitely not enough to justify upgrading if the parts are not broken.

I think the Ultegra rear derailleur does shift faster and more smoothly than my 105. In fact, I'd say significantly so.
I don't notice a monumental difference in the brifters, or between the 105 and ultegra front derailleurs, although the 105/ultegra fronts do shift better than the tiagra on my other bike.
For every day non race use, 105 is probably the best value.

Let's not turn this into a Shimano component debate.
As the others said, not a good deal. Pass or negotiate.

Yeah but it's almost 2012, and you can get a bike with 105 drivetrain (admittedly not on that nice a frame) for $1k new. The crankset on the Felt is just FSA Gossamer. Unless someone is really into the Felt aero frame $1400 isn't a great deal. I wonder how many would've paid $3k for an 18.5lb carbon bike with 105 in the first place.
