I have the worst pedal luck -- Look Keo Blade Failure
Just wanted to write it up and leave it open for comment. Its always nice to have searchable failures of equipment on the forums.
So I moved away from a pair of SpeedPlay chromoly Zeros due to poor cleat life and smoothness, and premature failure when a set screw stripped out of the plastic pedal body from normal operation.
I moved over to a pair of Look Keo Blades w/ Ti spindles -- great pedals really, felt much more stable than speedplays and looked pretty nice too. However last weekend the right pedal started making some audible sound, took them off and examined them to find the slightest amount of play on the axle as well as very rough bearing operation when spinning the spindle. I've had these since early August and they have slightly over 1000 mi on them.
I'm pretty sure the needle roller bearing has failed -- the inner pedal body is pretty well sealed. I'll be contacting Look for warranty of course.

How much do you weigh? Ti spindles flex more with larger riders and tend to suffer from premature bearing failure.
I have had good luck with my steel looks. Hopefully look will be good and replace the pedals.

Mid to high 150s -- nowhere near the limit. Instruction book suggests 220 lbs max for the Look Keo Blade Ti.

Strange, I would see if they will replace them. I think it's a fluke. Any thing can fail, it's a matter of how often. I am a big fan of Look Keo, I have seen some of the carbon keo's have broken but other than that, I'm not aware of a huge amount of problems with Look products.

From what I understand, a little play in the spindle is normal with Keo pedals (Keo 2 Max and Keo Blade), but that sound is definitely a problem. I recently bought some Keo Blades (chromoly spindle) myself, but I haven't used them yet. It will be interesting to see how they hold up compared to the Keo 2 Max pedals I'm using now. My current Keos have been great.
