Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

some things are better left unchanged.
Sure you can paint painting electronically but no substitute for the real thing.

Imagine being a bit distracted by a hot woman in a red dress ... and spontaneously downshifting.
No thanks ... I'll take the nice 'n simple mechanic system.

^^ This

Plus, I'm waiting for someone to start complaining that it adds extra weight to their bikes.

i think this would literally be the only time that you would not be able to "forget" about electronic shifting.

I'll just mention that the shifting is still "electronic" and the power is supplied by the Di2 battery, not the brain. The brain only supplies the signals, in this case picked up by electrodes on the head instead of directed through muscles to fingers and lever switches.

+1. Still electronic, just controlled with the brain.

I'm pretty sure that this would result in an upshift.
