Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Work in progress: My CG 2011 Scott CR1 Pro.

I figured you guys might appreciate this a bit. Here's this semester's final for my modelling class. Obviously it's not yet complete, but the goal is for it to look nearly photo-real when it's complete (About a week.)

There's a few details you guys might pick up on that no one else would. Namely the cassette has only 3 different numbers of teeth, etc. Brakes, RD and FD, and NDS crank arm are next.

Anyone have any suggestions for simpler brakes? Running out of time, don't want to model the normal Force brakes. Any super weight weenie ones you guys can think of?

Hope you enjoy, I'll post finished ones next week.

design it as a track bike and save yourself a lot of hassle. and.... they look good too.

unless, of course, you have already committed to a replica of the other bike in the picture.

Cool, what software are you using? Solidworks, Alias, Catea, FormZ? Does not look like a rendering in Solidworks.

One major problem, all the spokes on your rear wheel are radial. N.G. Need cross spokes on at least one side to transfer torque from the hub to the rim.

Wow, back from the grave! I realized I forgot to post a final shot.

So, it's still technically a WIP. Rear wheel still has radial spokes, which are on the list for a fix for version 1.5. Anyway, enjoy:

FSA OS-99 Stem?

Also, the rear derailleur appears to be mounted on your rear axle instead of a Rdr hanger...

Correct on the stem!

And you're right... Hmm.. I guess I'll add that to the list of fixes, thanks.
