Any current or former Navy Rescue Swimmers here? If there are reply to me I have a club and a kit you might be interested in

this is Coast Guard Station Town , their rescue swimmers are fishing the fisherfolk out of the sea, as their boats flounder and sink.

Late 60's I was USN , but on Submarines .. bunked in the room with the Polaris-II missile tubes.

Where are you stationed and what's your AFSC? I've been in the AF a hair over 15...stationed at Travis and I'm a Cyber Transport guy. Originally came in as telephone and we merged.

Yeah, 6 long years. They went by a whole lot faster in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Ha, I know the feeling... 1 (7) month Kosovo deployment in '02 and 2 regular deployments to Iraq in '04 & '06. The first month dragged on all these tours but afterwards it was smooth sailing, lengthwise that is.

11B from 1988-1992, 16P from 1986-1988. I spent three years in Germany stuck in a Patriot unit.

Currently a submarine navigation instructor going back to sea the middle of next year. Been AD since October of 2006.

Mostly stationed on the eastern Great Lakes and the New England area, but was also in Florida, California, etc... too.


*I retired early in 1996 with 17 years after (then) Pres. Bill Clinton and Congress passed that bill called TERA (Temporary Early Retirement Authorization), remember that? They took the full 20 year military retirement and lowered the requirements down to 15 years. So, anyone from any branch of military, E-5 and above, could opt for an early retirement with all the same benefits as a full retirement at 20 (retirement pay gets calculated out/readjusted that's all, all the other bennies are the same). Word has it that Congress had to shut it down in 1998 due to so many people leaving! Everyone was jumping on it from what I heard. They got their results they wanted - to thin the military a little bit, perhaps a little too thin, and the top military brass freaked out and had it shut down.

USAF active duty 1961-1965, reserves 1965-1967. AFSC 31350 Instrumentation Tech, supporting polar orbiting reconnaissance satellite missions including Corona Keyhole program.

New "flight suit" inspired kit for SOML Racing (So Others May Live) which is a race community for Navy Rescue Swimmers, families and friends. I was a P-3 guy but my son is currently a Navy Rescue Swimmer with HSC-84.

3/1 0311 out of Camp Pendleton (Good ol' Horno!)
Ended up doing STA/SSP for 3 years and my body has paid for it (knees mostly). Got out a few years back.

Did pick up E4 during my 4th year...the cutting scores became more and more ridiculous (think I picked up with a 1735 haha). I remember being maxed out on everything and waiting every quarter to pick up those extra 21 or so points. I felt worse for the 51's though.

I was in a branch or two (3) of the military. But never accomplished much, enjoyed the people though.

Three guys I work with prefer that we address them by their rank as nicknames.
One is known as 'the colonel', one is 'the captain' and one is 'the commander'.
When I served as an attorney with the Department of Justus, they issued me a name plate that says "general attorney", that I still keep on my desk.
I tell these guys that I out rank all of them, and to just refer to me as 'the general'.
