Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Glad you're alive. I hope the driver stopped and took responsibility.

Be glad you're not in Southern California, because I see too many ghost bikes out here and hear about many people hit and taking off. Huntington Beach's Fire Chief just got caught got hitting a cyclist and taking off...whilst drunk I may add.

I totally understood how the driver hit me, I was headed up hill and the sun was directly in my eyes as well as the drivers. I was in front of a car who made a right hand turn and the person behind them just accelerated after the car turned and never saw me until she was just about to hit me and plunked me right on my tire and sent me in the air, landed with my back right on the ground. Yes she stopped immediately as well as a few other cars who saw it happened. The girl who hit me was so sweet she couldnt stop crying and i was on the ground trying to calm her down. They said I damaged my coccyx but its nothing too serious. As for the bike, rear der looks a bit out of whack and my seat is facing a different direction and the tire is lumpy aside from that nothing, no damage on the frame which is what i was most concerned about.

Glad you are OK (relatively). Were you using a tail light blinky? I always use headlights and tail lights in the morning, even if it's sunny, to make sure drivers see me - trying to avoid getting hit!

Yeah, no point in worrying about it now. Just don't forget it in the future!

Glad you're not seriously injured. In my case, my prize is to be still alive and riding.

If you're lucky, you get one or more really cool scars that will make you the envy of cyclists who haven't been hit.

+1

Lawyers and insurance companies will look to see if a cyclist has posted info about the crash, to see if there is any info to put the cyclist at fault for the crash.

About 3-4 cars came close to hitting me today. I was wearing a bright ass jacket too and was biking on bike lanes.

At one point I came to a Red. As soon as I saw the Green I started pedaling and a driver from the incoming side wanted to go left. The driver wanted to turn very early so he/she didn't have to wait for the cars coming from my end. Closest encounter today and I of course just gave the "look".

Sounds like nothing was broken , which is great. In time the hurt will go away . In the meantime give yourself a chance to heal .
