Yokozuna cables on 2010 Scott CR1

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yokozuna cables on 2010 Scott CR1

I was wondering if anyone has installed Yokozuna cables on a 2010 or newer Scott CR1. The bike came with Shimano 5600 group. I've read a bunch of threads on the cables concerning ferule issues ect. Any tips for the 5600 in particular? I just ordered a set and hope they work.

Earlier this year I put Yokozuna cables on my Look 595. The ferules were too fat for the internally routed cable stops near the head tube, and if my memory serves me correctly they didn't fit the ferule channels in my SRAM hoods very well either. I ended up using Jagwire ferules to get everything to fit. The Yokozuna cables are also pretty stiff and somewhat of a pain to work with, so your hands might get a workout depending on how you will be routing. I don't see why they wouldn't work with 5600 though. Should be fine. Good luck.

A data point: I have a new set of Yokazuna Reaction cables sitting here waiting to go on my bike. I measure the shifter housing ferule diameter to be .223". The existing Gore Ride-on ferules are .223", as are the ferules on another bike I have here. All three different shifter housings measure .163-.164" OD.

Thanks guys. I think I might have the LBS give these a shot for the install. Any one else have any other suggestions I should mention to them?

i don't have a scott, but my bike does have 5600 shifters. i didn't have any problems with the yokozuna reaction cables...ferrules seemed to fit into the shifters just fine. the brake housing is a huge pain in the butt...really hard to get smooth routing because it's so stiff.

the cables work fine, but i can't honestly say i can tell much of a difference from my old cables.
