Keep riding them.

Throw the stick!!!!
I generally sell the frameset and pick up a new one to replace it. I am a big believer that everyone should have at least two bikes, never know when one is going to be out of commission for some reason.

Descends like a rock
First old bike went to my son who was just getting tall enough for it with some adjustments. Second old bike is now my hauling stuff/commuter bike. Not sure about future bikes - none currently on the horizon.

Keep riding although I did sell off one after I wound up with 3 road bikes and a CX bike. More than I could justify since I've also got a MB so all my riding needs are met with backup.

I part them out, Some stuff goes on eBay, give some stuff to the local bike co-op, save the parts I want. Just gave two frames to the local bike co-op.

One went to my daughter, the other one is on my trainer. I have some old kids bikes that I'm donating in the Spring.

hmm still on my first road bike I bought it in 08 and have no plans on retiring it yet. Waiting to save up the dough to get a new bike to race on. I haven't even changed the tires on the bike, only replace parts because stuff is broken

I haven't tracked my mileage because I haven't set my self up to do that. The back tire the grooves are barely visible and the front tire the groves are still visible. No cracks or punctures I have only got pinch flats I figure once I see the tire falling apart I will change it.

I'll generally pull off all the higher end parts and build the bike back up with older parts from my parts bin, then I will donate it to someone with no bike or one that is significantly lower quality. I'm a big believer in "Paying-it-Forward" and have given the last four personal bikes away when I replaced them. I am actually considering giving my almost-new Monocog 29er SS to the son of a friend because his current bike is just way too small for him. Then I will take his bike and rebuild it for someone else.

The only possible downside to a 2001 is that it might have a 1" steering tube. My last bike was 2001 and it had one. Those forks are harder to find. My current bike is a 2004 and it has a 1 1/8" steering tube.
