Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2011 Specialized S-Works Amira Build

2011 S-works Amira 48cm
Shifters= Sram Red
Brakes= Sram Red
Crankset= Sram Red Compacts
RD= Sram Red
FD= Sram Force
Bars= FSA SL-K 38cm Compacts(should arrive tomorrow)
Cassette= Sram Force 11-28T
Chain= Sram Red
Saddle= Fizik Arione 130
Pedals=Look Keo 2 Max Carbon
Wheels and Tires= Easton EA90SLX w/ Vittoria Rubino Pro Slicks

Going to build this girl up, and update later with some new pics. Should weigh in mid 14's when done. I have only been riding road bikes since July of 2011, and never built a bike before that, this is my 4th build. Is it an addiction or an expensive hobby?

That's so awesome. Please post pix as it gets built and a weigh-in when complete.

Is that saddle one that your wife already rides? It doesn't look very girl friendly.

No it's not, she was just saying that, thinking about getting her Ruby Gel expert in black/red, just like the one they sell on fully assembled build. But I can't find it anywhere.

Rubys come in widths. 130 is unusually narrow for a woman. I ride a Toupe (same shape as Ruby) and I know I couldn't ride that Arione for 10 minutes.

Saddle comfort trumps matchy-matchy every time, that bike would look fine with a black or white saddle (and matching bar tape). Or maybe you can ask at some bike shops, not everyone will want the stock saddle, they might have take-offs.

Thanks, yeah I know 130 is narrow. I'll check with the LBS tomorrow.

Nice, I looked at getting my wife an Amira last year, but she is too tall - 5'10", so I got her a Tarmac SL3 Pro. Her bike is Force with a Sram Quarq.

One question though, it looks like you pulled the shifters off another bike. You do plan on putting new cables/housing on there, right?

Yes, I did pull them from my wife's other bike, they are barely 4 weeks old. I don't think I need to change them do I?

Excellent build! Looks like a really funky/extreme bend on that brake cable between around the seat tube/top tube area.
