Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

we figured for the price of buying one of those cheap tin sheds or a kit we could build our own that would actually go better with the house...plus I had loads of free time.

"The Bike Cave"

One, likely two, bikes will have to be banished to the garage when the Kirk arrives in a few months.

5 bikes (2 hybrids, 2 MTBs, 1 BMX) all up against each other, on floor of 1 side of my garage, with 8 locks (3 u-locks, 3 combination cable locks, 2 cable locks w/ Master key locks). The 2 bikes that get used the most are on the outer side of the bunch.

Need to have good ceiling height or the bikes can't be walked under. I found the best place was off a hook up against the wall. I have 6 bikes stored like that with them being alternated hanging from the front and rear wheel. I'll post a picture later.

Living room. Well, my road bike lives in the living room.

My hybrid alternates between locked on the patio and in the living room too. My wife's hybrid lives on the patio full-time.

Small apartments suck. One of my friends keeps his 2 bikes in his kitchen.

I keep mine in the bike vault also spelled g a r a g e . Also keep two cars in there. The bikes hang wheels up from hooks over the hoods of the parked cars. Plenty of room for two cars and 8 bikes.

so Lowes didn't have what I needed (surprisingly) everything they have now is made to be fitted to a slat wall deal they sell...I'll have to go to either home depot or Ace to find what I'm looking for...to be continued Monday I guess.

I have been slowly trying to convert to the Rubbermaid track system. I have a few bikes that hang like this

A few on the floor in the garage leaning up against junk, and my commuter is usually in the house in the rear entry area so I can more easily load and unload stuff in the mornings while I'm getting ready.
