    Got de-iced today

Was riding on one of the rural roads here this afternoon. With the forecast calling for snow tomorrow, VDOT got busy and started de-icing the roads and I got sprayed as the truck went by. What the heck is the stuff they use for de-icing and I am quite sure it's not good for you and your clothing, right?

Often a sand/salt combo ... in the places I've lived. The salt isn't good for your bicycle.

Liquid sprays will generally either be mag chloride or normal sodium chloride brine solution. Neither is particularly bad for you unless you drink it, and mag chloride is the less toxic of the two, and not as corrosive on metals as regular salt. Still a good idea to wash it off, though.
