anyone know of a seat post with tons of offset. by offset i mean bent so seat is far back or way forward. somthing along the lines of a cervelo soloist, if you get my drift.

There is a chuck triathletes use that gets the seat way back on standard seatposts.Can't remember the name. I think Rivendell
has a post that would work as well.

Nitto is very nice too. Finish is exquisite.

I think the Thomson's are misunderstood. The Elite setback has a straight mount meaning that all of the offset is found in the post. 16mm isn't actually that much when you compare it to other posts with offset mounts. I like mine, I just think I could accompish the same thing by using a straight post with an offset mount. The titec's are the most radical that I have seen.

The reviews for the Ergopost 2 on roadbikereview.com aren't too hot. Furthermore, I read somewhere that the Ergopost 3 (limited availability in the USA to begin with) was recalled. I was considering picking up one for my KG486 but have decided I like my Easton EC70 just fine. The EC70 has a considerable amount of setback FWIW.

Any comments on the Look Ergoposts?

My question is do you want to make your seat more forward? Most set back posts can not be turned around forward, if you try you can not get the seat level because clamp wasn't designed with enough range of angles to be used in forward position. Probably the tri-athlete forward type can not be turned around for set back either. The Thomson Set Back post IS designed to work either back or forward.

Thomson's 16-18mm is hardley called offset. Take a look at the FSA's k-force light
and Easton EC90. Think we're talking 35mm.

Actually, the second generation Ergo 2 was recalled. I have been riding the original Ergo 1 for 3 years. I got it new from an Ebay store for $85. I have the bolt in the full offset hole (as far back as it will go).

I did crack the top half of the clamp, but that was my fault and I got a replacement for $10. My saddle was wiggling and I thought the clamp was loose, so I torqued the crap out of the clamp bolt, only to find (later) that the seat rail was broken inside the clamp! Doh!!!

Thomson's so-called "setback" post, you know the one with the bend in the middle of the post, isn't that great. I compared it to standard offset posts from Shimano and Campy and the Thomson doesn't allow you to push the saddle back as far as the Shimano or Campy ones.

The Profile Design Fast Forward 2122 is probably what will work for riders today. The Hellbent is no longer sold, but has more offset. The Profile is capaple of effectively relaxing the seat angle or steepening it 5 degrees.
It is no lightweight though.

I assume that what you want is more setback, to move the saddle back, not a Tri/TT post to move it forward?

Selcof has one of the largest setback models at over 40mm.

Not many models can be used in both forward or backward positions.
