Yeaaaaay!!! Carbon Wins!!!
Nicely done SC! I'm sure the carbon that Colnago sources from Ferrari for their top tier bikes goes far beyond even this.
I saw this earlier today. It's pretty incredible. The tests on that page probably aren't especially well suited to road use, but they inspire confidence. Also, Santa Cruz makes mountain bikes, so ... the tests make more sense for that.
Don't believe everything you think.
Breaking stuff looks like fun.
They look like big, good, strong hands, don't they?
but slimrider told me if i took a hammer to CF is would explode
Those tests are slight variations on EN standard test that ALL carbon frames needs to pass (the "Smash a frame into a concrete pillar test" being the exception).
Also remember that the alloy frames were new and that the carbon frames has been tested already AND ridden/raced for 2 years.
Can we sticky this one?
+1 on a sticky for this....
sticky sticky sticky sticky
When will they ever just RIDE a frickin' bike to test it?!?!
I want to see guys doing 6' drops with both then crashing them into trees sideways
then canceling out of a jump at the last minute and trashing the bike and THEN
looking at "real world" results to base their conclusions on.
But, I guess it's good to know that if anyone throws a set of weights
at your fork, your chances of making it can be measured.
(Funniest part? No wheels on the test subjects!)
This wasn't a real test - they should have scratched one of the carbon bikes first...
...apparently when they're scratched, dropped or chipped by road-stones they can spontaneously explode and kill not only the rider but all within a 10m radius.
Nope. This one is going to be sticky.
