Titanium audax to take 28c + fenders

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Titanium audax to take 28c + fenders

Does anyone know of a ti frame that is light (~1.5kg for 58cm) and fast, but takes a rack and has clearance for 28c tyres + fenders? From what I have read the Sabbath September and the Van Nicholas Yukon will take 28c without fenders and 25c with. I want to avoid touring geometry but would consider a cross frame if it was light and fast and fitted my criteria. Basically I think for a £1000 "life-long" frameset it needs to have a decent level of versatility without compromising on performance.

No info?
I found that Spa Cycles sell their own brand ti audax frameset for £750 here in the UK, which seems like a bargain. 58cm frame and fork is 2.2kg, so I'm guessing about 1.6kg for the frame. It's a shame I can't actually afford one right now! An actual income in summer should change my circumstances enough to splash out though.

Thanks for the suggestions. That Motobecane looks tasty. Would have to add at least another 20% on top of that for import tax to the UK, but that's still pretty tempting.

*no international shipping from Bikes Direct unfortunately*

I've worked out the tax and duty and it comes to about 25% which really isn't great. Plus I want the peace of mind of having a local dealer for warranty/crash replacement claims.
I spoke to the people at Sabbath today and they say that their new September model will take 28c tyres and fenders

Van Nicholas makes a nice product. Rode one for a couple of years. It was their cross/touring frameset.

I own a Moto Century Team Ti above and it is perfect. However, it is a bit heavier than 1500g, but it rides like a dream. I'm sure you could find a US facilitator to ship it to you.

From looking at my VN Yukon it's possible that you could do 28c with guards, but you might have to modify them to add a little clearance - I'm not sure. Are you sure 25c wouldn't do you? If you went for some of the new wider road rims you'd probably get similar comfort levels.

A sub 1500gm Ti frame for less than $1700 in a 58cm? That's a pretty tall order. Have you looked at a Lynksey Cooper CX? Probably a bit over 1100 gbp but its probably the closest I can think of, in a 58 it should be right around your target weight.

I'd be really curious to see a 1500g steel frame. Links?

Not sure it meets your 1.5kg limit, but I believe there are some very lightweight S-3 tubesets. and probably others that produce a sub-15 pound bike with stock components. ....But not for a 58cm sport/touring frame that takes wider tires, fenders, racks.....,, panniers, mudflaps, 3 sets of waterbottle braze-ons, computer, lights, GPS, etc.

Rodriquez in Seattle offers the Outlaw ($2500 frame+fork): https://www.rodcycle.com

I am considering a stainless steel option, but was more drawn to ti for some reason. It turns out the Sabbath September's 2012 model takes 28c + fenders. Won't be taking the plunge for a little while, so I've got some time to mull things over!
