conservative, nice looking helmet advice, please?

Hi,

I am a 49 year old male and looking for a more stylish, good looking helmet for
sports touring and a mix of road and rail-trail riding.

I do not like some of the goofy looking helmets that looks like you have a mushroom
or cupcake growing on your head, or the ones that make you look like a 5 year old!

What are some stylish, conservative men's helmets around 50-65 bucks?

Thanks

Giros, specialized, cAtlike, mavic all offer nice helmets o their mid to high ranges.

I recently got a Bell Array from Nashbar. It's not as mushroom as some and not too racer/poseur looking for an old guy like me.

There are so many...but, really, nobody knows your taste but you. One guy's goofy is another's mickey mouse. Try out whatever is available at your LBS.

Uh huh, and size has a role, too - it's a little tougher to find a good looking helmet for the Big Head Todds of the world.

Just get the best Giro, standard high end helmet, not too flashy, not a cheap helmet. Dont be cheap this late in the game! ;)

Most of the mushroom/muffin helmets serve a valuable safety function, they do a good job of protecting ears, forehead, and temples. If the helmet is streamlined, what's keeping your ears off the pavement?

Something I've recently been made aware of, safety experts recommend choosing a helmet without protrusions or knobby bits. Sharp styling treatments on the rear of the helmet are likely to cause the head to turn abruptly when they knock or drag against something; in other words turn the head around in the direction of the face.

Might be slim pickings finding a "good looking helmet" in that price range.

Bell Citi

Excellent safety rating, comfortable, easy fit, moderate weight. Comes in both conservative and bright colors.

That Citi ^^^ is probably the most conservative-looking helmet that still has reasonable venting. Bern helmets, while having a smoother surface, almost look goofier for some reason.

Here's some others that don't look like normal bike helmets:

Try the Bell Alchera. In black I think this is nice and conservative.

We got the Bell Volt helmets for our team this year. I really like how mine fits/feels.

+1. I have a 2003 RED Alchera I am trying to replace, but it's no longer made in red. It has a lot of ventilation and the price tag is about $50 on sale. I don't know where you are located, but find bike stores and try on the helmets in the price range you are looking at. Buy one that fits your head. I have a small head and the only helmets that fit me are some Bell size small helmets.

Helmet? Helmets are for leftwing pinkos. My guardian angel will look after me.

That's what I have. Great helmet.
