Attach Radbot Light to Aero Seat tube

So my Synapse has a somewhat aero seat tube and my light has a round attachment. Seat says are also not round. I know there are lights out there with a more rubber band type attachment that would work, but I'd rather not spend money on another light. Anyone rigged something up for a situation like this that worked? I thought about rubber banding the original mount on but it has an L-shaped bracket that interferes.

EDIT: This kind of shows the mount

I've made a similar mount work using a short piece of thick rubber tubing between the clamp and seat stay. Make sure the light won't rotate into the spokes.

You could fabricate a strap that goes around your aero post and bolts to the L bracket.

You could buy a decent rubber band mounted taillight for ~$20. I use these but they still might require some ingenuity to mount it to your seat post. http://www.botachtactical.com/prtecsw.html

I like this idea. It got me thinking. Might be able to wrap a thick-ish rubber strip or tube around the post and drill holes in the end and run the bolt through. Might need a square nut or something in the middle for the L-bracket to rest against but I think this might work. I'll experiment.

And if that fails just buy a new light. Thanks for the link. I've looked at a few like this. Probably something out there that would work properly.

I'm too lazy. I bought a saddle bag that has a loop that I can put the blinkie on.

velcro strap?

Get a Planet bike Superflash stealth.

It comes with a couple of different mounts and one of them fits nicely on the not so round seat stay.

And it is ridiculously bright.

I have a nice, new bag and no loop on it. Would rather buy a new light.

Maybe. I'll give that a try too as I'm playing around. Thanks for the idea.

I put one of those on my daughter's bike. I don't recall there being an extra mount for an odd shaped tube but I'll dig through my junk box.

Thanks for the ideas everyone.

BTW, I had the Planet Bike LED on my Synapse seat stay

I just remembered, I put a Planet Bike bracket on the non round seatstay of my CAAD9. That bracket also fits the Radbot 1000 clunky perfectly, in fact, I use a Planet Bike bracket for the Radbot on all my bikes except the aero one.

Here is the webpage with the catalog number if you need it. I ordered them from the LBS no problem.

Thanks for the tip. That looks real similar to the mount I have which doesn't extend all the way around the seat post. The little one would probably work on the seat stay, but not sure I want a light down there by the wheel. Haven't tried a velcro or rubber strap yet but I'm leaning that way - or just buy a new light. Thanks again.

Most bright taillights have a fairly narrow beam that needs to be aimed properly for best effect. This might be difficult to achieve hanging them off a loop on a backpack or saddle bag.
