Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Title says it all. Who's got the hottest less than 1k ride (out of pocket, no sponsors).

<$380 as shown. Since then, a few months ago, after a few upgrades it's a bit over 400.

Nashbar aluminum road frame & carbon fork.

This one sold for $1,200.00 when I bought it new in 2010. It's a 2009 model so the LBS let me have it for $1,000.00. It's now for sale.

These were both well under a grand. Craigslist has been very good to me...

Very nice! I have a celeste one as well...but unfortunately it is getting bumped out in favor of new carbon (the Fuji above). It was under a grand until I did the wheel upgrade.

The bike I was riding in this pic (sorry, no better pic of it), an 09 Trek 1.5, picked up off CL for $550. Added a set of Tiagra crank and tires, and was still under 7.

My less than $100 roadie ($60), came with old, heavy 7401 Dura-Ace clipless.

I got my Pinarello for $400, too tired to dig up pics, though.

I snagged a very similar bike to that (at a similar price) for my brother-in-law. Very heavy Trek 320 with RSX...but it works just fine. Integrated shifting for under $100! Are those 105's?

Those are actually RSX 7-speed. They didn't shift at all when I got bike. Flushed out with spray lube and click nicely now. Diamondback interval is a pretty weighty machine @ 26 lbs, but not a bad beater bike. MSRP was $479 in 1999.

I think I found a lighter, more attractive crankset for it, will find out if it fits BB tomorrow.

Yeah, very similar bikes then. nice find!

I was going to flip mine, but offered it to my BIL at cost. He's only ridden it about a 15 times over the past couple summers, but that's cool.

I think the red LeMond is the best buy so far (but maybe the worst pic).
