Suggestions for a good training program?

I was an avid user of the P90X and Insanity videos and now that I've gotten into competitive cycling I'm looking for the equivalent in the biking world. I have a trainer, HR monitor, on board computer etc. Do any of you have good experience with a particular training series? I'm open to all suggestions.

Are you looking for a training program, or just DVDs?

well interval training would be the best... if you can do insanity you should be able to handle biking... do distances the first half and then intervals fatiguing the leg and cardio the last half... it's not rocket science really, just common sense... the body improves itself when pushed to the limits.

I assumed the two were synonymous in this case.

Nope. DVDs can be used as part of a training program, but a training program consists of scheduled, targeted workouts which address a specific goal. Training programs last anywhere from eight weeks to year-round. DVDs could be used for some of the workouts, but are not an end in themselves.

What's your goal? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What kind of races do you want to do? You need to figure these out before looking for DVDs...or training programs, for that matter.

See plans for some structured plans.
    Or get a coach.
