Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't understand some people on the road -_-

Was out on a recovery day country-side ride and my brother (who's thinking of taking up cycling) joins me.

Near the end of the ride, my brother warns "car" and I look back. We were just about to turn left onto another road and signaled.

lo and behold, the silverado pickup revs up and starts zooming by probably going +80-90mph at the sight of my hand. He flies by (which is fine), but then all of a sudden I see soft drink cups thrown out of the window obviously trying to hit us. They miss by a longshot and actually hit a window of the house next to us.

I've come to the conclusion that man will never set foot on Mars. If the soda was the space shuttle and I was a planet, houston we have a problem.

This is the kind of thing that keeps new cyclists from joining! I think competitive cyclist said something about the bike industry selling bikes that are more expensive vs selling new bikes to new people!

He's been issued his own personal warning from the mods recently... can we keep him as a mascot though? He's not good enough to be a real troll.

Isn't CarlJohson the same guy who was wanting to buy something on ebay and got spastic because nobody was responding? He even typed an entire paragraph in caps so that we would know he was seriously miffed.

He is rather endearing in a sad way.

He's a "renegade" who's afraid to stand out except by lame trolling on the internet.

It's not just guys in pickup trucks. I suffered a dislocated shoulder today by a cyclist driving his car in the wrong direction in a one-way, circular parking lot while trying to exit in the entrance lane. Having time to get one foot unclipped, but no time to dismount, as he came around the curve, it was get hit by the car or dump the bike. I dumped the bike. The ******* looked at me lying on the ground, didn't stop, didn't say squat and continued driving in the wrong direction. This happened in the parking lot of a MUP where other cyclist were kind enough to help get the bike off of me and help me get up.

Somebody in a Mustang convertible threw a cup of clear soda at me yesterday. Hit me square on the left knee. I thought it was water but it was sticky when it dried. This was in an upscale neighborhood.

Extraterrestrials won't let us yet .We explore the sea and end up exterminating 90% of the sea life from it. Instead of growing up, we idiot up. They see everything...

Being serious aside, there's no sense gettin' all riled up every time a bunch of idiots give you a hard time. In the end, the universe tends to unfold as it should.

Razor struck me as actually being bat-**** crazy. Not this guy. He's doing a poor job pretending to aspire to try being bat-**** crazy.

Awww, he was funny.

Anyway, back on topic. I vote for:

Prius
Jetta

BMWs are bad, too, but there seems to be this angry "I really wanted a BMW but couldn't afford one" air around Jettas.
