Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cassette question

Hi guys,

I currently have the following Ultegra Cassettes

11-23T: 11,12,13,14,15,16,17,19,21,23
12-25T: 12,13,14,15,16,17,19,21,23,25

I was thinking of getting the 11-28T but want to switch/convert the sprockets to 12-28. So the gears would look like this…

12,13,14,15,16,17,19,21,24,28

Is this possible? If so, do you think I should add a link or two on the chain?

Thanks in advance

The last 3 in the cluster are a single piece so you cam switch to this, better to simply go 12/27.

Sram has a 12-28: The 12/28 includes: 12,13,14,15,16,17,19,22,25,28

Yes, unless your current chain is already long enough for the new gearing.

This. But check your chain wear first. Might just be best to put a new chain on at the same time. You likely will need a link or two, unless of course your current chain is the original and/or the same length as the original. It's pretty normal for bikes to come with chains that are too long.
