Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

my skin tone is uneven now. help?

i have light to medium brown skin. i have not given it much thought since i don't get sunburned.

but now... my forearms, and legs are getting pretty dark brown it's pretty noticeable. i could live with that i guess, but my face is slowly showing signs now of unevenness. the area outside the cover of my helmet and sunglasses are getting a little noticeably dark. yeah... this one bothers me.

what's a good non-greasy sunblock for my face and i'll just use it too for my arms and legs, mostly my for my face though.

thanks.

I don't worry about greasiness with all of the sweating I do on my bike. I just apply 50SPF water/sweat resistant sunscreen and lightly dab my face with a towel before the ride to knock down the sheen. This stuff is great (not greasy at all) but it's too expensive to use for cycling IMO. Some people also use the "sheer" sunscreens which are much less greasy but they cause me to break out.

thanks. i'll go check out that neutrogena. im willing to spend money on it but if it's too expensive... i'll just use it for my face and just find something cheaper or just ignore my forearms and legs.

RULE #7// TAN LINES SHOULD BE CULTIVATED AND KEPT RAZOR SHARP.

Under no circumstances should one be rolling up their sleeves or shorts in an effort to somehow diminish one’s tan lines. Sleeveless jerseys are under no circumstances to be employed.

This obviously wouldn't apply to the face. I also use the neutrogena above, to preserv my sexy. Lol

I use this Walmart brand stuff on my legs and arms. It's cheap and doesn't have any of that chemical, baby powder or other odors that are so common (and annoying) in sunscreens.

Other than going shirtless and schlepping your stuff in panniers, it's the price you pay.

Oh, your face? Sunscreen. Maybe some of that girly, perfumey, lotion with an SPF value?

I used vaseline brand water proof SPF 40 last year but I can't find it now, the neutrogena isn't crazy expensive plus it doesn't cause me to break out like a 13 year old the way other brands do.

err... where can you buy the neutro spf50 locally?

rite aid doesn't seem to have it. im not really familiar since i've never shopped for sunblock before.

EDIT: found it on walgreens. it's 4$ more expensive than online but it'll prolly not be that much more expensive with shipping. i do have to pay some tax though but no wait time. imma try and catch them before they close at 10p

thanks.

Yea...around this time of year my face starts looking even stranger than usual. Since I keep my hair very short, I get some pretty sweet helmet-vent tan lines too. All geometric shapes.

No idea why my gf stays with me.

You need to spend the daylight hours in a darkened room and cycle only at night. This is guaranteed to solve your problem.

I don't mind the tan lines, but the tan lines on my wrist's where my gloves stop are getting way too noticable! I think I need to up the SPF level to 50.

^lol.

I use Aveeno Face Sunblock SPF 35. Still unevenly tanned if I go swimming/biking/running though. For just biking, it's fine until past 3 hours.

No, that'd be to much coverage, he should go g-string.
