Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Vermarc apparel - Beware!

This company doesn't stand by their products! I purchased a pair of their bibs and after 5 months and and 4 or 5 rides the chamois started coming apart. I contacted VermarcUSA and their President said to return them to the retailer and they would warranty them and then he reneged on his earlier statement. The wholesaler, QBP, also refused to warranty the item. After the retailer attempted to have them warrantied I sent emails to both QBP and Vermarc headquarters in Belgium and they didn't even bother to respond.

Out of the dozens of bibs I've owned I've never had a chamois come apart. I understand things happen and products make it out of the factory that aren't 100% but how a company deals with it is true sign of their character. This company sucks and can't be bothered to even respond to an email. For a company that claims "legendary quality" they clearly don't believe it. Steer clear of their products and VermarcUSA.com.

The only recourse I have is to share my experience with the cycling community. If you have a better suggestion I'll be happy to consider it.

I see you joined RBR to trash this company with multiple threads there as well. This is beyond whining. A pair of bibs, move on, try another brand.

I have one of their jerseys and it is by far the most comfortable one I own, and from what I can tell plenty durable.

You must have money to burn if you spend $150 on a pair of bibs and get 4 or 5 rides out of them and then
"move on" to another pair.

If I was advertising a product and claiming that it was great and advertised it in numerous places would that be over kill? So if the idea is to share my experience with as many members of the cycling community as possible doesn't it make sense to post it in multiple places? How much money do you have to spend before expecting a company to stand by it's products? If you don't want the info just ignore it and move on. Seems to me that Vermarc "trashed" itself. I'm just sharing the story.

Some of us own multiple pairs of bibs. They were in the rotation. Thanks for the input though.

Where did you buy them? Were they an authorized retailer?

There are plenty of fakes coming from China of their ProTour kits.

You must have money to burn if you spend $150 on a pair of bibs you only wear 4 or 5 times over 5 months.

Cycling clothing is not a necessity or any sort of "investment." If the amount you spent is so significant to you that you have become obsessive about it, you should have bought cheaper bibs in the first place.

Sorry to hear that. I will never ever ever spend 150 on bibs. There, does that make you feel better?

It has nothing to do with you or the fact you bought and used a product for 5 months and want to return it.

Maybe I should try that with my Haynes boxer briefs, hmm. They are in 'rotation' too. I bought them at an authorized Walmart and I think the Customer service would love to see how the elastic is starting to loosen and the 'pouch' is starting to wear. They don't seem to be resisting stains too well either.

You do know slander involves false accusations right? I'd love for Vermarc to come on here and share their side of the story but I don't think it's likely.

I really don't understand this group. If you don't want the information then just choose to ignore it but the fact you all choose to defend the manufacturer that just takes your money and then disappears instead of the consumer and a fellow cyclist is strange. If you're skeptical that's understandable. I'm giving you this information so hopefully you don't get burned and can spend your money with a company that stands by their products but instead you rally around someone who can take your money and then give you the finger. Your loyalties are odd.

Look guys, I'm just a fellow cyclist who is irritated when a company doesn't stand by their products. There's no hidden agenda. I'm not leaving out details. There is no twist to the story. I didn't think I was going to shut down Vermarc single handled. I went through all the channels available to me and they hosed me. So I figured I would share my experience with the cycling community and maybe someone would think twice before spending their money with them. Frankly I'm shocked the post got any replys. What do you think I'm going to get out of this? Nothing(except a bunch of grief from you guys). It's the only recourse I have available to me at this point and hopefully I can save someone from the same expierence.

To everyone who likes to reply by comparing their bibs to a pair of briefs and complaining about my ride to bib ratio thanks for moving the post back to the top of the board.

There is obviously some disbelief here too since they make pro gear and should be quite durable for traveling teams.

I know. That's what I thought when I bought the stuff. The rest of the garments are great just for whatever reason the chamois started coming apart.
