I was out on my solo ride today, and I got passed (and dropped) today. It was a regular route for me, and I rarely see any other cyclists. I was about 5 or 6 miles out from my start, basically getting warmed up for the big climb, and I saw a shadow creep up on my right, and next thing I know, this guy on a sweet Lynskey is passing me. We exchange brief greetings as he motors on by. I briefly considered staying with him, but I really had planned on not pushing myself too hard today, because I have a big ride on Sat (the Iron Horse) and I want to be fresh. At any rate, I picked up my speed from about 20 to about 22 for the next few miles and kept him in my sight. I honestly figured I'd probably catch him on the hill before the pass. Gradually, I couldn't see him anymore, and didn't until I was 1/2 mile from the summit and he was on his way down, so I didn't catch him! BUT the cool thing is I got a new PR today just because I had this guy out in front of me that I was trying to catch! The ride is approx 27 miles with 2000+ ft of climbing, and I knocked 3 min off my PR.
