Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Photoshopped Craigslist ad and why?

I found this ad on Craigslist. I am pretty sure that the photo has been edited because I don't see anything in the picture holding the bike up but the water over the rims is pretty realistic looking. I don't understand why you would want a picture of a road bike in water as a selling point. If anything I would think it would discourage people.
I also attached the picture in case the ad got taken down.
Thoughts?

It looks like the rear tire is further down in the water, possibly the photo taker put rocks on either side of the wheel to keep it propped up? Hard to judge from the photo.

If it is photoshopped, it seems a little silly.

Yeah, I think they have the rear tire wedged in some rocks.

Needs to go in the pictures of your bike near water thread.

There's no pedal at least on the drive side in the picture of the one in the water.

The rest of the pictures in the flickr account seem to have pedals.

Like other people said, there are probably rocks under the water holding the bike up by its rear wheel.

Whether a kickstand was cloned out or not, the photo has definitely been edited. Thecamera has 15 million pixels, and the image doens't, so somebody pulled it through Photoshop or The Gimp or whatever to downsize it. They probably sharpened it up a bit afterwards, and maybe adjusted the contrast beforehand. The same kind of stuff that happens when you had a roll of film developed last century. Maybe the guy needed to do all that, and went to town, he's using an expensive SLR.

Some people ride bikes as a hobby, some people do pictures. The only time bikes get mentioned on camera forums is probably product photographers talking about how to light them, and those people think we're weird for riding 100 miles in a day when we own cars.

Good call. I didn't notice that. Guess I was to busy looking at the water.

Wow. Your post may have changed my life. I have now come to the realization that all of my time should be devoted to the pursuit of something that is worthwhile like finding the cure to cancer or solving world hunger. I sincerely thank you for redirecting the path that my life has been on in such a positive way.

Seriously though, I could follow your example of utilizing all of your time wisely by posting in threads on bike forum about how the OP has too much time on their hands.

Thank you for your post that added nothing of any value, insight or humor.
