Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A new milestone for me

Hello everyone. I have achieved well over 100 miles this week. This is a first for me,and it feels great. The heat has been intense here the last few days..in the upper 90's. But i got the rides done in the mornings. My average has been 22-27 miles per day. My new felt bike has enabled and encouraged me to ride longer and more often. I did a 42 mile ride last week. I think Im ready to try a fifty. I sure wish i discovered this when I was a younger man.No complaints....just enjoying the progress.

A metric century!

In fact as an older rider myself I have learned to embrace the metric system. I weigh less, go faster and farther.

Im amazed at how much of the test is in the mind. When I over think how far fifty miles is,it becomes daunting. When I just get on the bike and start riding it becomes possible.
