Romin Evo owners...any luck with other saddles that are more forgiving?
Got a Romin Evo a few months back after having issues 'down there.' The huge cutout alleviated issues very well. I'm looking for a similar shape saddle for my commuter, but hoping for something more forgiving as I would like to avoid wearing bike shorts on my daily commute. I currently have an Avatar on my commuter that isn't working out after testing various saddle tilt angles. I feel like the pressure never really focuses in on my sitbones, and I'm always feeling it the next day in areas that I really shouldn't be.
So, anybody who's had luck with a Romin Evo have any luck with another saddle? Or should I just HTFU and get another Romin Evo?
I'm looking into the B17 imperial right now. I know the break-in isn't very forgiving, but as long as it's just my sitbones that hurt, I don't really mind. I tried the B17 out the other day but that didn't seem like it was going to workout. 5'9", 140ish for reference.

I was hoping not to resort to this but it might have to.
I have the base Romin Evo. I think it's the Romin Evo Gel Comp. It's worked wonders for me so far. I still get sitbone soreness when I use it with shorts and chamois, but I don't mind that nearly as much as taint/boys pain.

I have the romin evo pro and it's a life saver. I wouldn't want one on my commuter but i ride a converted Trek Sawyer 29er. Only 6 miles a day total with jeans (30 total on the train). What type of bike and how long is your commute?

the romin evo has a little bit of give. it's no toupe; it still isn't a flexing saddle. but the romin evo isn't quite as rigid as a romin.
a riding buddy just bought a 155mm romin evo after trying my 143mm and liking it. his other saddles are similar shape, but cost more and have more padding-- koobi enduro.

Trying a Romin Expert EVO right now. Had it tilted forward a little too much. Made adjustments but haven't ridden it yet. The Toupe Team I had before it was great. Fantastic seat...
If the REE doesn't to it once adjusted, I'll go back to the Toupe Expert...

Commute is similar to yours. ~7mi total on a Kilo WT5 (like the TT except with thicker tires and a 5 speed IGH). I'm thinking from this thread that I should just buy another Evo Pro.

for the truly ocd, a thomson post with that micro adjust cradle and a really big level from the hardware store equals lots of seat adjusting fun!! but yeah, start that seat at perfectly level and point the nose down just past level and you will be in nut happy bliss....sorry ladies....

have you been measured by your specialized dealer? i recently did and my sits bones were 110mm so according to their chart, i was between 143 and 155 so i tried both sizes. the 143 felt like my stock ass hatchet saddle but the wider 155 size supports my sits bones instead of letting all my weight sit on my taint. wow what a difference that wider size made for me. i'm demoing a romin comp gel while my romin evo pro is being shipped. i rode my first century saturday on the demo, it's that much more comfortable than my stock saddle.

That's pretty much how I have arrived. I ride both the Toupe and reg Romin...both Ti hollow rails and have decided without question I prefer the Toupe....both are 155mm. In fact, just snagged a Toupe Plus Expert with Ti hollow rails on ebay to replace the Romin on my other bike. No doubt the Evo Romin is better than the reg. Romin...but I have decided I prefer the flatter/broader Toupe which seems to have more give or flex. The Toupe Plus is said to have a slightly softer pad on it and reviews have been very positive.
OP....I am a long time Brooks rider and to me they are the best saddle for riding without a chamois...but....a Brooks has awful perineal pressure if you ride with any sort of forward torso lean...in my experience. My personal suggestion for commuters is...get a good quality lightweight backpack...I am about to try the Osprey Talon 22... and ride in bike shorts...versus bibs and keep some slacks in a backpack.
Good luck.
