Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've been using an iPhone stashed in my jersey pockets on rides. Recently picked up a bento box (frame bag) and thought that'd allow me to relocate the iPhone and have a convenient place for my snacks. Went on one ride and won't be using the bento box again. Maybe I just got a poor quality bag (it was off eBay), but it kept sagging and getting in my way when out of the saddle. Knees kept hitting it. Will be going back to jersey pockets for iPhone and snacks.

I use to keep my Treo in a Bento Box. It worked fine. I listed to music through the crapy speaker on the phone. I have since dumped the phone so I no longer use the Bento Box. I was thinking about putting food it in and using it on the road again.

I use to never use my bento box on my old bike because the top tube was small enough that it would sag and swing around. Once I got my new bike I love it. I usually keep my phone and wallet in there because I live on a military base and having quick access to my id is crucial. I keep mine on the back side of my top tube attached to the seat post. It has not got in the way, granted, I dont tuck down like a pro in the tour.

I use mine for food because otherwise I tend not to eat enough. To increase the fredliness of it, I mounted it on top of my stem.

I use ziploc bag for my phone without any dramas (or condensation), though I only have a cheap Nokia phone not an iPhone. How does the inside of the bag get condensation if it is sealed shut??!!

I don't use a Bento bag either, I tried one on a ride and had the same problem with knees hitting every time I get out of the saddle

I ride with a gentleman who uses one. He's a good rider, on the bike for many, many years. You can set your watch by his cadence when he's leading a paceline.

But I prefer my big fredly seat bag and my iPhone in my jersey pocket in a plastic ziploc bag. I don't listen to music while on the bike.

You like chocolate, I like vanilla. Who cares what others think? If it works for you, use it and don't worry.
