Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

there's a deal on CL for a '12 bmc road racer but it comes with 105 and mavic aksium. my current bike has ultegra and custom velo A23 wheels. i like the geometry on the BMC frame more though.

i was wondering if this frame would be a good frame to build up a lightweight bike on.

also, i don't have a backup bike so it will also serve this purpose till i can build up on it and it'll be my main bike.

thanks.

When my SL01 had full rival, force crank, and Soul 2.0 SL wheels on there. It was right at 16lbs so it's not hard.

it will cost you 1 million dollars.

or you could research the weight of the wheels and groupset and do some math

Buy the frame, put the components and wheels from your current bike on it.

Then as you can afford it, get components for your current bike so you have a backup.

but having back up wheels is nice even if they are a 2-3 hundred dollar set.

It's easy. My 54cm SL02 is 15.6 lbs. SRAM Red shifters, FD, and cranks. Force RD, 3T team bars and stem, and wheels in the sub 1600 gram range.

Ok I didn't read your post close enough.

Why not buy it as is, and just swap the wheels and components between the 2 frames?
