Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A 54cm frame feels very good to me, though a 52cm seems to fit just as well depending on manufacturer.

5'8"
49cm (People at bike stores swear I should be riding 52cm, I'm not sure. Because that's what they normally have in the store)
I don't know about bike inseam.
30" jeans inseam because they shrink. All others, I buy 30x30(shorter ones hard to find) then hem it by usually 1 inch, so 29".

[QUOTE=Ranger]1. How tall are you?
5'6"

2. What frame size do you ride?
48CM with head tube Ext

3. What is your cycling inseam?
I have no idea

4. What is your pants inseam?
30

I think I ride the smallest frame. Had been riding a 50CM but the stretch was too much for me. The 48CM was fitted. The 50CM was a guesstimate

hey guys, I'm 5'9'' and I wear a 30 pants inseam as well.
I just bought a bianchi and this will be my first bike.

I have the choice between a 53 and a 55. I guess i'm going with the 55 right?
When I go pick up the bike, is there a size printed on the bike, so i'll know it is the correct size?

thanks so much.

You might be alright with either size. See if you can take each for a test ride and see how they feel. If this isn't possible, just try sitting on each, placing your hands in the drops, and determine if this is a comfortable position. I realize you may or may not do much riding in the drops, but you want to ensure that you get as good a fit as possible. If the person you pick it up from has any experience, they should be able to help you get the right size.

As far as the frame size being printed on the bike, mine isn't. However, you can still check the size and get the right one by simply taking a tape measure. Measure the distance from the center of the seat tube to the center of the head tube. If it measures 526mm it is a 53 cm bike, if it measures 542mm it is a 55 cm bike. Information about the exact specs are listed here:

https://www.bianchiusa.com/557.html#

There are many variable to consider when choosing a bike. The big thing is to make sure it is comfortable and that you could ride it for miles. I hope you enjoy it, Bianchis are wonderful bikes.

If i were to err, should I go with a bigger bike, or a smaller one? I'm 5 feet 8.5 inches and I weight about 150 pounds. If there were a 54, I think I'd be perfect. . .

FWIW, I don't think your set up is bad.

I spent the last year on a Marin with a 61 and it is just way too big. I went bike shopping last weekend and after riding a 60 Trek Madone, 57 Lemond Buenos Aires, 2 58 Serrottas, a 60 Seven Axiom and a Specialized Roubaix Pro (of a size I cannot remember), spinning in trainers on 57 Orbeas (Orca and Onix), I ended up buying a 55 BMC Team Machine. My stats are:

1. 6'2"
2. 55cm c to c; 59 c to top; 56cm tt
3. bike inseam - 35.3 in
4. pants inseam - 34 inches
