My new rig
Finally upgraded from my Kmart mongoose to a real road bike!
It's a 2012 Felt Z85. I rode my first twelve miles on it today and it was an unbelievable difference!
I already got rid of the reflectors and I'm thinking strongly about clip less pedals and shoes. Right now I'm just excited to finally have a nice rig!

Nice rig, congrats. Some idiot will likely tell you to flip the stem but it looks good as is.
Now ride the crap out of it.

Man that's a pretty slick looking bike. The bars do seem a bit high, but its about what works for you.
Time for clipless pedals, reflector removal, and thousands of miles of riding.

Thanks guys. Ill probably remove some spacers/flip the stem as I get used to the new riding position. I was doing about 100to miles a week on my kmart bike so my body is pretty used to that upright ride and even as this is now its a pretty extreme change.
So as a general consensus, clipless pedals are worth the investment?

nice bike...enjoy it! and yes, clipless pedals are absolutely worth it. you'll probably fall a few times with people around and it will be embarrassing. it happens to almost everyone.

Ill probably go ahead and pull the trigger on some shoes and pedals in the coming weeks. My lbs is going to give me 15% off on accessories so ill have to go in there and try some on... im pretty excited about the new ride. I already made the top ten on one of the segments I always ride on strava.

def go clipless. Also stretch your back everyday before you ride, and you will be more limber. Flip it when your body allows you too.
Nice ride

When I flip the stem obviously ill be more leaned forward, but will that put my arms more straight or more bent? I wouldn't mind a little more bend in my arms but I don't think I would like them any straighter.

Sounds like you need to keep it where it is. The more you ride, the more flexible you will become. Overtime it will kind of be like reverse evolution. You start straight up on the bike, but will end up at a more bent over postion. You want a little bend in your elbows, so keep stem where it's at for now. People on here always telling people to flip and slam stems, b/c it makes the bike look cooler and more aero. Just enjoy riding.
Get rid of those reflectors though.

If you flip that stem you will actually extend the reach slightly, making your arms straighter, so keep that in mind . Don't just flip it because someone on here says to. Ride it how you like it and how it is comfortable for you. Congrats on the sweet ride, you'll love it. I have the exact same bike. Now go ride it!

gotcha. Like I said, I'm not going to change anything from the way the shop fit me until I feel I need to for one reason or another, but right now I'm just getting used to the new position I'm at.
