How to hide new bling bike from wife

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

How to hide new bling bike from wife

I'm pretty good at hiding the small bling. I handle the bookkeeping and am good at creative accounting. Been tipping the UPS and FedEx drivers to leave packages in the bushes for years. Packages that require a signature get delivered to a friend's house. But a whole bike is a different matter. I'm thinking about camouflaging the frame to look like a beater - maybe tape it over. She doesn't know enough to notice high-end components.

Creative ideas?

LOL You sir are my hero. I like your style. Sometimes it's just not worth the verbal assault that we know is coming our way. $100 for hair? Sure, it's necessary. $150 for a slightly older Apple HD Cinema display that works like new from a friend at work that's moving far away? "Are you F'ing kidding me? We don't have that kind of money right now. Are you seriously crazy? Wow." Again, I admire your creativity! Good luck!

I usually say hey honey, check out my new bike. That is the end of it. After the last 15 or 20 she has learned not to ask how much they cost. I have learned not to lie to my wife and she has learned to not put me in a position where I may need to.

That would be easy if she didn't provide 75% of the household income.

You shall soon be referring to her as "the second one"!

What would you do if the situation was reversed? You earn 75% of the household income and then she tries to hide the big bling and then lie to you?

With that out of the way...get a can of Plasti-dip. Spray the frame down and make it look really ugly. Plasti-dip can be removed very easily and once done, you can lie that you "restored" the bike.

My wife just read my reply, laughed and said that is exactly right and she doesn't want to know how much my bikes cost. She also said she has no desire to be married to someone that would lie about such things.

Dude, just be honest with your wife. What do you love more, bicycling or your wife?

Although, I have to admit; tipping UPS drivers to hide packages in the bushes is pure bad*ss.

Forget the "MAN CARD and HTFU" phrases, they are amateur lines.
