Difference in Toupe models?...
I have an earlier Toupe 155 with Ti rails that I just love. It has been and continues to be a great saddle and I ride it big miles weekly with no discomfort. I thought I would pick up another Toupe 155 and because of the miles I ride, thought maybe the Toupe Plus would be even better. Wrong.
I found the Toupe Plus to be less comfortable than the original...the extra padding felt weird for lack of a better description. I didn't experience pain per se with it...but it was overall much less comfortable than the original Toupe. So I am searching for another Toupe 155. Is the latest standard Expert Toupe with Ti rails like the original in feel? There is also a Gel model but I am weary now that I tried and sold the Toupe Plus...knowing that a softer cover saddle many times isn't more comfortable.
Is there a model Toupe out there that I should consider based upon your personal experience?
Thanks

Also, Specialized used to give you a 7-day return period to try out a saddle.

I really don't want one with carbon rails...Ti hollow rails are fine...but looking for the latest model that is comfortable...and the Plus wasn't so much.
I like the firm feel of the early Toupe.

I generally pick up my saddles and parts on ebay. I would guess the model year of my Toupe is about 2010...no idea if its a Team or not version.

The Toupe was changed. I have an older 143mm Ti that is well worn in and great on the double centuries I ride. It's showing its age however and if you press on one side it creaks loudly and has a noticeable sag to it. The newer Ti-rail Toupe I bought has a firmer shell and the rails are not as close to the seat as before (to mount on some posts easier). I've got over a thousand miles on it and while comfortable it hasn't 'broken in' like my original saddle. I suppose what made the originals great was also an issue over time.

It was the Team - (c) 2008. You can tell from the little Zertz inserts on the rear of the saddle. Hollow Ti rails - very comfy. I think it was one level up from the standard Toupe.
