Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Suggestions for a light frameset?

I posted this at weight weenies and the thread got locked.

Anyway...I'm thinking of replacing my 2007 Look 595. I'm a very light person and prefer light bikes. I want a frame/fork/post that is lighter than my Look 595 frame/fork/e-post. I would PREFER to spend no more than about $4500...but I have wiggle room there. I've been considering the Cannondale Evo, Parlee Z5 SL, a used Cervelo R3-SL, Guru Photon, BH Ultralight.

Are there others I should be thinking about? Are any just too flexy/fragile to even be worth considering? Are any just heads and shoulders better than the others?

Thanks!

EVO. BH Ultralight would be sweet, but at a higher price.

Willier zero 7. A bit of a budget stretch.

Well in your budget would be the Cdale, which is perhaps the biggest bargain out there

I was quoted $3500 by a local C'dale dealer. I thought it would be cheaper. I think I'd rather spend extra money for one of the other bikes mentioned...unless the C'dale is a better bike, of course!

Calfee Dragonfly. Light but also incredibly stiff because the tubes are a mixture of carbon fiber and boron.

If you're very light, can you even flex any of those frames? That wouldn't be my first consideration. The Evo seems like great bang for your buck, but I personally like the aesthetics of the BH Ultralight. Haven't ridden either of them personally, so take that with a grain of salt...
