Oddest location where you're at wearing full kit.

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Oddest location where you're at wearing full kit.

The bus or the hallway at work, which is not all that bad or uncommon.

I think it also depends on where you live, some places are more used to kits in places like buses, stores, etc.

Emergency Room. I hadn't even gotten on the bike and had a mishap resulting in a good gash on my head and possibly a seizure.

Would've been worse if they accused him of stealing a single baby carrot.

I don't give it a thought. What's there to be self conscious or embarrassed about?

Once at Costco. The floors are slippery as hell btw. I felt any minute a "Bambi on ice" moment could happen...

Last fall one of older riders in the club past away, my brother inlaw and I rode to the funeral in our clubs colours. So a funeral house is normally pretty weird but this guy held Canadian track records when younger and his family didn't even bat an eye.

Have you ever been in weird locations or situations wearing full gear without your bike nearby and felt odd?
No.

I guess we all can't go to work in our bathing suits or to Wal-Mart in pajamas.

Uh, then again, people will wear anything at Wal-Mart....

I used to be self-conscious about the kit, and I was over it. But now our team kit is like something out of Barnum & Bailey, so I refuse to wear it anywhere.

I laugh when I see grown men wearing softball uniforms in public. They look like pajamas.

I stopped by to see a friend in a hospice hospital several times. They even let me take the bike into the room with me. Got lots of looks but no comments.

What you wear to work should be about potential consequences to your employment and career, not self-consciousness or embarrassment. Use your own judgement on that. I've often worn cycling kit to/from work and during midday long-lunch rides from work but we had our own company kit.

Wear anything you want to Walmart as long as it's not your place of employment and it meets the local decency standards so you don't get kicked out or arrested.

Parole hearing... The panel was all...frowning.

So I said, "What? Thought I might like to ride later. That is, if it's alright with you guys..."

Didn't turn out too well.

Strip club.

I had planned on getting home in time to change, but a flat set me back, and I knew my wife would be pissed if I missed her first dance.

Grocery store. I didn't feel outright weird, but I was aware of all the stares. I don't think it's as much the clothing as the clickety-clackety of the shoes and the duck walk.
